ISO 27001 AND ISO 42001, GUIDED

Integrated Guided.

One management system, two certificates. The backbone is built once and each standard's control set sits on top of it. £12,500 + VAT, fixed, against £16,000 buying the two Guided routes separately. A saving of £3,500, about 22 per cent.

Who this is for

An AI-enabled organisation whose buyers are asking for both: information security certification for the platform, and AI governance certification for the models running on it. Running the two implementations separately duplicates the scope work, the risk work, the audit programme and the management review. Built together, that backbone is written once.

What is built once, and what is built twice

Built once

  • Scope and boundary covering both management systems
  • Interested parties and their requirements
  • One risk methodology serving information security risk and AI risk
  • One set of measurable objectives
  • One document control, competence and awareness regime
  • One internal audit programme
  • One management review covering both systems

Built twice

  • Two Statements of Applicability, 93 Annex A controls against 38
  • The AI impact assessment, which has no ISO 27001 equivalent
  • Data governance for training and inference data
  • Explainability and human oversight records
  • Two certification scopes

READ THIS PLAINLY

A single management system does not mean a single audit decision. The certification body may audit both in one visit and it may not, and the two certificates are separate. That is the body's call, not Goldline's.

What Goldline builds

  • One scope and boundary covering the ISMS and the AIMS, with the AI systems named
  • One risk methodology, and the first information security and AI risk assessments
  • The AI impact assessment method and the first assessment
  • Two Statements of Applicability, 93 Annex A controls and 38
  • The policy set for both standards, written to your operating model
  • Gap register with a named owner and a date on every line
  • Review and written correction of everything your team produces

What your team does

  • Populates the documents with your operational detail
  • Collects and uploads evidence against both Statements of Applicability
  • Implements and operates the controls
  • Maintains the model documentation
  • Attends a regular 90 minute working session

What this requires from you

A named internal owner, and 70 to 100 hours of your team's time across the engagement, because two control sets have to be evidenced. Leadership available to approve policies and sit the management review. Access to whoever actually builds and runs the models.

Eligibility

Both Guided tests must be met. Single legal entity, one site or cloud hosted, roughly fifty people or fewer in scope, a named internal owner, and one to five AI systems in scope with somebody who can describe what each model decides and where a human signs off. If either test fails, it is the Integrated Sprint.

What is not included

  • Control implementation and configuration changes to your environment
  • Evidence collection
  • The clause 9.2 internal audit. Where Goldline has built your management system, the internal audit must be run independently and cannot be run by us. We tell you exactly what it has to cover. Budget separately for it.
  • Certification body audit fees, paid directly to the certification body
  • Stage 2 attendance, available separately as audit defence

Who issues the certificates

Accredited certification bodies issue them. Goldline is not a certification body, does not issue certificates in any tense, and will not sell implementation and certification to the same organisation for the same scope. Certification body fees are paid to the body direct, sit outside the Goldline fee and carry no Goldline margin.

As at 11 September 2026 there are five UKAS accredited certification bodies for ISO 42001 in the UK: BSI Assurance UK, LRQA, NQA Certification, ISOQAR and TUV UK. Booking one is a scheduling item that starts early in the engagement rather than at the end of it.

WHO OWNS WHAT

Four phases, and who owns each one.

Integrated Guided runs on the Plan, Do, Check, Act cycle, delivered against a PECB Lead Implementer methodology in both standards. Goldline sets the direction and holds the standard. Your team does the build. The bar on each phase shows how the effort actually splits, and the accountable owner never moves. Phases are sequenced, not timed.

  • Goldline directs, reviews and holds the standard
  • Your team builds, decides and evidences
  • Neither of us. Independent by requirement

PHASE 03 · CHECK

Prove both systems work

WHAT GETS PRODUCED

Not Goldline. Clause 9.2 requires the internal audit to be independent of the work being audited. Goldline directed this build, so Goldline does not audit it. We hold a network of independent, credentialled auditors and will introduce one, or brief a competent person inside your own organisation to do it properly.

PHASE 04 · ACT

Close the findings and book both scopes

WHAT GETS PRODUCED

  • Nonconformities logged, with root cause10.2 both

  • Stage 1 readiness confirmed for both scopes
  • Handover: one operating calendar, two certification scopes

NEITHER OF US

Stage 1 and Stage 2 belong to your certification body

The certificates are issued by accredited certification bodies, not by Goldline, and the audits are booked into their calendars. Their fees are paid to them direct, are separate from the £12,500 and carry no Goldline margin. Goldline is not a certification body and does not issue certificates, and will not sell implementation and certification to the same organisation for the same scope.

Why the split is the whole product

Integrated Guided is priced flat at £12,500 because the labour sits with you and the backbone is written once. If Goldline did the Do phase as well, that is the Integrated Sprint. The qualifying test is both Guided tests met. Without a named owner with the hours, the split above does not hold, and the honest answer is a Sprint rather than a cheaper number.

Delivered against the Plan, Do, Check, Act cycle by a PECB certified ISO/IEC 27001 Senior Lead Implementer and ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Implementer. Every deliverable is keyed to a clause of ISO/IEC 27001:2022 or ISO/IEC 42001:2023, or to an Annex A control in one of them. Effort splits are typical for a Guided engagement and are confirmed at scoping.

Price

£12,500 + VAT, fixed, inside the eligibility above. ISO 27001 Guided at £7,000 and ISO 42001 Guided at £9,000 come to £16,000 bought separately, so the integrated route saves £3,500, about 22 per cent. A readiness assessment already paid for credits in full against this, and this engagement credits in full against a subsequent Integrated Sprint.
