EU AI Act
Regulation (EU) 2024/1689, in force 1 August 2024, applying in stages. Prohibitions applied from 2 February 2025 and general purpose AI model obligations from 2 August 2025. Regulation (EU) 2026/1744, in force 27 July 2026, changed the high-risk timetable: obligations for Annex III high-risk systems apply from 2 December 2027, and for high-risk systems covered by Annex I product safety legislation from 2 August 2028. Additional prohibitions apply from 2 December 2026.
Why it matters: the high-risk dates moved in July 2026, so any plan built on the original timetable needs rechecking.
